چکیده

We investigate the consistency requirements of the next-to leading BFKL equation with the renormalization group, with particular emphasis on running coupling effects and NL anomalous dimensions. We show that, despite some model dependence of the bare hard Pomeron, such consistency holds at leading twist level, provided the effective variable α s (t) log(1/x) is not too large. We give a unified view of resummation formulas for coefficient functions and anomalous dimensions in the Q 0-scheme and we discuss in detail the new one for the q ¯ q contributions to the gluon channel.

CERN-TH.95-237 k-FACTORIZATION ∗)

I review the k-factorization method to combine the high-energy behaviour in QCD with the renormalization group. Resummation formulas for coefficient functions and anomalous dimensions are derived, and their applications to small-x scaling violations in structure functions are briefly discussed. ∗) Talk delivered at the VIth Blois Workshop “Frontiers in Strong Interactions”, June 20-24, 1995. +)...

k-FACTORIZATION AND NEXT-TO-LEADING ANOMALOUS DIMENSIONS

I review recent results by Fadin, Lipatov and collaborators and by our group, leading to the almost complete calculation of the next-to-leading BFKL kernel, of its eigenvalues, and of the resummed gluon anomalous dimension. Qualitative implications for small-x structure functions include consistent running coupling effects and a sizeable decrease of the Pomeron intercept, so as to slow down the...

On sabbatical leave of absence from Dipartimento di Fisica, Università di Firenze, and INFN,

I investigate, at leading twist level, the consistency of the BFKL equation with the renormalization group, when next-to-leading log-x terms are included in the quark-sea channel of the anomalous dimension matrix. By use of k⊥-factorization, I find that, besides next-to-leading small x resummation formulae, a leading, x-dependent redefinition of initial quarks and gluons is needed. Its interpre...

A Complete Leading–order, Renormalization–scheme–consistent Calculation of Small–x Structure Functions, including Leading–ln(1/x) Terms

We present calculations of the structure functions F2(x,Q ) and FL(x,Q ), concentrating on small x. After discussing the standard expansion of the structure functions in powers of αs(Q ) we consider a leading–order expansion in ln(1/x) and finally an expansion which is leading order in both ln(1/x) and αs(Q ), and which we argue is the only really correct expansion scheme. Ordering the calculat...

k⊥-factorization and perturbative invariants at small x

I review the basic idea of k⊥-factorization and its relation to collinear factorization. Theoretical results in resummed perturbation theory are summarized and the example of the heavy-flavour structure functions is explicitly considered. Using these results one can investigate the small-x behaviour of quantities that are independent of the non-perturbative parton densities. In particular, one ...
